Meleto
16 km from Fattoria di Corsignano
It is located a couple of km from Gaiole in Chianti towards Siena.
The castle originally belonged to the Benedictine monks of Badia a Coltibuono and the name “Meleto in Chianti” is mentioned for the first time in 1269 in the precious “Book of Estimi” of the Florentine Guelphs, as the property of the Ricasoli family. The Ricasoli family, over the centuries, has expanded and embellished the structure: so today the Castle preserves the massive fortifications of the fifteenth century, with the imposing cylindrical tower, but also the elegant grace of the noble villa, with the sequence of the rooms furnished and decorated and with the eighteenth-century theater.
